The ultimate irony

I just think this link is funny.
If you want to hear it from the horses mouth,
then here you go.

Very interesting.

Actually, my computer annoyances lately are dealing with how people in town who FIX computer problems (So, I even PAID, and not to mention they did something that I DIDN'T WANT/ASK them to do) decided that it would be okay to install PIRATED WINDOWS on my computer. Do you think an angry letter will suffice? What are your suggestions for action in this case?

Did you get another pirated copy of windows?

of course my solution
is always the same,
buy a mac.

but if you already had a legit copy of windows, then you problem beomes more of an annoyance.*

I would definately talk to someone, and make sure it's a person with knowledge, and power.
you know, some boss, of some sort.
but it might have been some sort of um, well a mistake.

*the real problem, and the real solution are very likely connected, but I would have to know more about the problem to offer the best advice...

p.s. I hear the farming game is 30%off at CAL ranch. which would make it ummm $17.5 plus tax. I don't think they ordered as ny this year, so it might not go as low, but if it does you could save another
$3-4

Warnser, thanks for the info about the discount game! I may have to check it out.

This was my home computer. I realize that "I should buy a Mac," but we have had this discussion before, and you realize that it doesn't make sense for my computer activities.

Yes, I had a legit copy (of course since I purchased it from the source). The thing that just infuriates me to the max is that they reinstalled windows in the first place, which I didn't ask them to do. It's like they went on auto-pilot with my computer and just "fixed it."

Little did they realize (even though I told them) that I was perfectly able to fix it myself, and I only wanted their services in extracting my files from my screwed-up computer.

And by the way, I had my windows CD with all of my numbers readily available if they needed it and would have gladly given it to them if they had asked for it.

And I was annoyed at the price mostly because they did what I didn't ask them to do and they charged me for it.

And then there are those who buy a mac and install windows... life is full of these little oddities.

Ok I'll try it again,
I seem to be loosing a lot of my posts lately.
Yes this one was my fualt.
I accidently left the page.
without posting it,
but I haven't had time to come back and leave my comments.

Cardine,
I'm really sorry to hear your story. computers, and their repair... pretty much annoying.
If this was a data rocovery issue that changes things.
Data recovery is never a cheap or friendly process, it is unfortunate that they charged you for windows,
but reinstalling the OS is a very good way to try to get your data back? Who did you take it to?
Was it Tom? I think he's about as good with data recovery as anyone.
But it's definately not cheap.
There are progams specifically made for it, but they're not cheap either.

And unfortunately with Microsoft's infamous OS, the process for fixing anything goes something like this.

1. close the program, restart it.
2. turn off the computer, restart it.
3. remove your preferences, reboot.
4. Goto to a saved history point on your computer, restart.
5. Re-install any software, or remove any new software. Reboot.
And Then
of course,
6. Re-install the OS.
7. Wipe everything clean, and reinstall EVERYTHING.

yes there are those with a slightly more elegant approach, but finding them is pretty tricky.
especially around here.

But the good news is that making your windows legit, should be pretty easy.

And then there are those who buy a MAC and still install windows,
Which quite honestly is still a very good way to go.

Ideally everything would run natively on macs, but that is not the case.
Still for just a little bit more you can get the best of both worlds.
with apple.
Because new intel macs can run windows (as well or better then any other computer), it seems to work out nicely. Of course windows will still have it's quirks,
as will anything, but with multiple partitions, you are less likely to lose everything, and even if the windows system gets corrupted, the mac OS can usually still pull the files so they are not lost.

Well,merry christmas anyway
